Set on a remote Botswana island and accessible only by air, Jao Camp is situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta and ensures a private and secluded Botswana safari experience. Jao Reserve is in the north-western area of the Okovango Delta in Botswana. The Moremi Game Reserve forms the eastern boundary. It is 60 000ha in size with a maximum guest occupancy of 48 people. The Jao Concession consists of glittering lagoons, deep-blue channels, floodplains, and palm islands.
This wildlife high-density wetland area is home to the sitatunga and red lechwe antelopes as well as lion, leopard, wildebeest, elephant, zebra and many more. The outstanding birdlife of which the fish-eagle, endangered wattled crane, saddle-billed storks, egrets, and the African skimmer are part of can also be found in the Jao Reserve.
The panoramic views will leave you in awe, but it is the camp design that will quickly (and frequently) catch your eye. The main area consists of an elaborate two-story wooden structure elevated right up into the tree canopy. There’s a lounge, a dining area, plunge pools, and a traditional boma complemented by an excellent wine cellar.
