Day 4:

Zambezi Queen by Mantis, Kasane

Kasane
Tucked away in the northeastern corner of Botswana, on the banks of the famous Chobe River, the scenic little town of Kasane rests on the doorstep of the spectacular Chobe National Park. There are no boundary fences separating the village from the park and game such as elephant and hippo are often spotted roaming around the town. If on the lookout for elusive game, pay a visit to the Sedudu Valley Road, where large dead trees provide temporary homes for leopards. Within Kasane, an ancient baobab tree stands on display, once serving as a local prison. Visitors can look forward to a multitude of activities including: enjoying a game drive through the park, taking a sunset cruise down the Chobe River, visiting a local village or jumping on a day trip to the breathtaking Victoria Falls.

Day Itinerary
Linger in this magical African world awhile before departure and enjoy a leisurely breakfast before preparing for your onward journey. A Flame of Africa representative will be on hand to facilitate the transfer across the border into Botswana and on to Kasane Immigration.
You’ll then be transferred by a smaller tender boat with a Zambezi Queen Collection staff member to the Namibian Immigration Office.
You then need to get your passport stamped at the Namibian Immigration Office. Please wear comfortable shoes, as there is a short walk to the immigration office.

If you arrive with the 13:00 and 14:00 transfers, you’ll be served lunch, while if you’re transferred at 15:00 or 16:00 you’ll be served a snack before the sunset cruise by tender boat starts. Once all our guests have boarded in the late afternoon, after a safety briefing and if the weather permits, we’ll go in search of some big game by tender boat. This is the perfect time of day to make the most of that golden glow of the African sunset by getting some iconic shots of the animals as they gravitate towards the river before night falls.
Return to the Zambezi Queen and freshen up before meeting your host on the upper deck with a welcome drink. After taking in the spectacular scenery, you’ll make your way to the dining room where you’ll be served a delectable three-course dinner along with an excellent choice of paired wines. Finish off with an espresso or nightcap at the bar before retiring to the night sounds of Africa in the distance.

About Zambia:

This unique, peanut-shaped country, once known as Northern Rhodesia, offers visitors an authentic African
experience complete with adrenalin pumping adventure sports, a variety of fascinating cultural activities, and an
abundance of indigenous wildlife, which finds refuge in Zambia’s vast national parks. Spend your evenings enjoying
the spectacular site of the world’s largest waterfall, the Victoria Falls, while sipping on sundowners after an
exhilarating day of whitewater rafting down the rapids of the mighty Zambezi River. If that sounds a little too
adventurous for your taste, take a houseboat cruise along the exquisite Lake Kariba while watching wild elephants
drink at the riverbank as you try your hand at catching the elusive tiger fish. However you choose to spend your time
in this unique country, you are bound to leave with a heavy heart and a desire to return again soon to this
exceptionally beautiful Southern African country.

Currency
Zambia's unit of currency is the Kwacha (ZMW), formally ZMK which was rebased in 2013. The denominations are
K100, K50, K20, K10, K5 and K2.  It is subdivided into 100 ngwee. Coins available are K1, 50 ngwee, 10 ngwee and 5
ngwee.  However, some prices are quoted in US$. It is therefore possible to use dollars and pounds as well.

Botswana

Situated in the southern reaches of Africa, Botswana is renowned for its pristine wilderness areas characterised by
deep lagoons, wetlands, lush palms, rugged hills and desert plains. The country’s primary tourist drawcard is
undoubtedly the vast red expanse of the Kalahari Desert and its remarkably beautiful Okavango Delta, the largest
inland delta in the world. These natural wonders provide a tranquil haven for an abundance of African wildlife to
thrive. Other highlights include the impressive Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, where visitors are privy to massive zebra
migrations during the flood season; the Savuti plains, which host a significant pride of lions; and the Tsodilo Hills,
where 4500 rock paintings form a unique record of human settlement over many millennia.

Currency
Botswana's currency is Pula (which means"rain" in Setswana). It is divided into 100 thebe (which means "shield" in
Setswana). Travellers' cheques and foreign currency may be changed at banks, bureaux de change and authorised
hotels.  The US dollar, Euros, British Pound and the South African Rand are the most easily convertible currencies (and accepted by some establishments - but, generally, then an inflated rate of exchange will be applied).
