Livingstone (Victoria Falls)

Located near the Zambezi River in southwestern Zambia, the bustling town of Livingstone is famous as the home of the magnificent Victoria Falls. One of the original natural wonders of the world, the World Heritage Site is known locally as ‘The Smoke that Thunders’. This spectacle is accessible from both Zambia and Zimbabwe and is an ideal place to combine game viewing and water sports. There is much to do including excellent fishing, a thrilling bungee jump and arguably the best commercial whitewater rafting in the world. Visitors can hike around the falls, try zip lining or enjoy the incredible bridge swing. Those seeking more leisurely activities can take sunset cruises along the river, with champagne and snacks included, meander through the vibrant local Livingstone Market, or discover the region’s history and archaeology at the Livingstone Museum.

Overnight: Toka Leya Camp

Included:

All meals, twice daily scheduled camp activities, park fees, laundry, a guided tour of the Zambian side of The Victoria Falls, a guided tour of Livingstone town and Livingstone Museum, sunset river cruise, visit to a local African village plus local curio shops and all local drinks excludes premium imported brands and champagne.

Day 3, 4, 5

Little Makalolo Camp, Hwange National Park

Today we venture off to Hwange National Park situated in western Zimbabwe. It is the country's biggest reserve, home to a profusion of wildlife, including giraffe, lion, zebra and approximately 40 000 elephants. It provides a sanctuary for all the country’s endangered species, including a population of wild dogs thought to be among the most sizeable surviving groups on the continent. The park’s magnificent terrain ranges from desert dunes, savannah lands and mopane woodlands to rocky outcrops and sparse forests. Visitors can look forward to game drives, guided walks or horse riding safaris. Other highlights include: the Bumbusi National Monument and the Nyamandhlovu Pan.

We head via scheduled road transfer from Toka Leya to Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport (Livingstone).

All pick up times for the following day's transfer or activity will be advised through the hotels or driver/guide between 16h30 and 17h00.

Overnight: Little Makalolo Camp.

A charming, intimate camp in the south-east of Hwange, “Little Mak” features prominently on the mental maps of local wildlife, all drawn to its reliable waterhole. A log-pile hide affords unique, thrilling close-up views of elephants, and habitat diversity ensures year-round wildlife.

Activities focus on game drives and morning nature walks. The many waterholes produce amazing sightings, or guests can relax in camp and wait for wildlife to come to them. The six spacious en-suite tents (including a family tent) are only surpassed in the experience stakes by the opportunity to sleep out at the Madison Pan star bed.

Included:

All meals, twice daily scheduled camp activities, park fees, laundry and all local drinks excludes premium imported brands and champagne.

Day 6, 7, 8

Chikwenya Camp, Mana Pools National Park

Time to leave our lovely Little Makalolo Camp behind and head to Chikwenya Camp in the Mana Pools National Park.

Located in northern Zimbabwe, the life-giving power of the Zambezi River makes Mana Pools National Park one of Zimbabwe’s most lush and flourishing regions. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is known for its natural beauty and as one of the continent’s premier game-viewing areas. Visitors can look forward to an array of activities such as canoe trips which are offered year round and provide a unique and memorable way for visitors to experience the area’s striking scenic beauty and diverse fauna, while guided walks are a great way to take its pristine riverside forests. Other popular activities include: game drives, river cruises, nature walks, bird watching, catch-and-release fishing, and searching for dinosaur tracks.

Overnight: Chikwenya Camp

Chikwenya overlooks a beautiful stretch of the Zambezi River in the eastern section of Mana Pools National Park, one of the most remote and beautiful areas in Zimbabwe. Views extend over open floodplains down to the legendary river and across to the mountains of the Rift Valley escarpment, while stretching inland behind Chikwenya are the dense woodlands so characteristic of the area. The canvas tents are set on low wooden decks and linked to the raised main area by pine walkways.

A lounge, dining and bar area offer a sanctuary of hospitality and relaxation, while a pool deck and fire place offer alternate spaces to take in the scenery and passing wildlife. The area is renowned for its large numbers of elephant, buffalo, hippo and eland, especially in winter when they concentrate along the river – these and a variety of predators can be seen from camp.

Included:

Rate includes accommodation, all meals, twice daily scheduled camp activities, park fees, laundry and all local drinks excludes premium imported brands and champagne.
