A small tented camp set in the permanent wetlands of a private Okavango Delta reserve, Jacana is ideal for honeymooners & nature-lovers.
Set on an island and surrounded year-round by water, Jacana Camp is a quintessential Okavango Delta ‘water camp’. The surrounding wetlands are densely populated with swamp specialists like sitatunga and red lechwe antelopes and the area abounds with hippo, elephant, crocodile and other big game.
Jacana Camp consists of five Meru-style tents built on raised wooden decks to facilitate its panoramic views of the Okavango Delta. Each tent has an enclosed en-suite bathroom. The main dining area is on an elevated platform between two magnificent sycamore fig trees and surrounded by dense wild date palms. Jacana Camp also has a cosy drinks and lounge with an area for an open fire under the stars; and a plunge pool for cooling off in the midday sun.

Activities:
- Game drives (water levels permitting) in 02 x 07-seater open 4×4 Land Rovers – hot water bottles, blankets and lined ponchos are provided on game drives.
- The camp has a supply of bean bags for guests to use to steady their camera while on game drive.
- Water-based activities in 06 x 2-seater mekoros (water levels permitting).
- Water-based activities in 01 x 08-seater boat in the waterways east of camp and 01 x 09-seater (water levels permitting).
- Fishing – on a catch and release basis only, however, is prohibited by Botswana law in January and February due to breeding purposes.
- Guided nature walks (seasonal and subject to the availability of a qualified walking guide, therefore pre-booking is essential).
- Birding (internationally recognised IBA – Important Bird Area).
OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES AT AN ADDITIONAL COST
- Scenic helicopter flights ranging in duration from 30, 45 to 60 minutes – with guest numbers as a minimum 2 and a maximum up to 5 or 6 depending on the helicopter used; half-day (morning or afternoon).
- Half day Tsodilo (UNESCO World Heritage Site) excursion to learn more about Botswana and the history of the San Bushmen.

Child Policy:
- Children of 06 years and older are accommodated.
- For families traveling with children between 06 and 12 years, private activities need to be booked and paid for.
- Children between 06 and 16 years must share with an adult/s in the same tent.
- The minimum age for walking and mokoro activities is 13 years and for boating activities is 06 years (water levels permitting).
